So, it is the middle of March and we are looking at snowmageddon. We had a snow storm at the end of last week, we are in a potential blizzard today and we have more snow coming this weekend. For someone who is not a fan of snow, works from home AND have kids who go to school, this can be tough. I needed something that would keep the kids entertained so I could get a little work done, and would keep them from fighting. Snow Day Slime is my answer.

Slime is the rage right now. My kids come home talking about it every single day. My grandson even came home from day care, he is 3, talking about it. I remember making slime with the older kids when they were little. Some things stand the test of time, I guess. Please note: This is slime without borax. It is coming to light that children are getting injured from borax. My recipe for slime does not have borax in it. It is 2 simple ingredients.

Snow Day Slime is slime made without borax. Slime is huge right now, but I wanted to make sure we made our slime without borax because borax isn’t something I want the girls playing with. Since my girls love Slime, I know we will be making a lot of it. Pro tip: I ordered my supplies off of Amazon because it is almost impossible to find large bottles of glue in stores. Normal bottles of glue will only make 1 batch of slime.

Supplies:
White glue
Starch
White glitter

Directions:

1. In a bowl, add 1/2 cup of glue and 1/3 cup starch. Before you start to mix, add in some glitter. This will depend on how much glitter you want to have.

2. Start stirring with a spoon. As the mixture starts to come together, switch to kneading with your hands. As you knead the mixture, it will turn into slime. This can take a little while. Just keep playing with it. Kids don’t normally mind.

I call this snow day slime because I didn’t add any food coloring and the white glitter makes it shimmer like snow.

My daughters have played with their snow non-stop. I was able to get work done, and it kept the girls from fighting because they each had their own slime. No one had to share. We have been planning on a lot of other types of slime so we will be keeping our supplies stocked.
