Most people know that they have to check the oil in their car. Some people even know how to do it. For me, it was something brothers taught me before I was allowed to buy my first car. My brothers also taught about other fluids that needed to be checked each month. Len Stoler Porsche wants you to know what fluids should be checked often in your car.
Check the Oil
Yes, I just said most people know the importance of checking the oil, but still not everyone does. The oil lubricates the working parts of the motor. If the engine is low on oil, it starts to make knocking sound. Once the knocking or tapping starts serious damage can already have been done. It is important to check the oil at least month a month. Be sure to add oil if it is low. Get an oil change every 5,000 miles.
Transmission fluid works for your transmission like oil works for the engine. It lubricates the moving parts of the transmission. Clean trasmission fluid is a reddish or light brown. Check the trasmission fluid every month. The trasmission should be changed every 30-60 thousand miles.
Brake fluid is important for the brakes to stop the car. The fluid is actually a hydraulic fluid that allows the brakes to push against the rotos hard enough to stop the car. If the car is low on brake fluid, the brakes do not work properly. Brake fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles.
Power Steering Fluid
Without power steering, turning the steering wheel is almost impossible. Using the power steering fluid, the steering wheel turns easily. If the power steering is low it can make even the smallest turns almost impossible. Keep the power steering fluid filled and replace it every 30,000 miles.
