When you are buying a new car, there are a lot of decisions to make. You need to decide what you can spend on a new car and what type of car you want to buy. Are you looking for a bigger car that can seat more people or are you looking for a sports car that you have been dreaming of? Maybe you are looking for something in between.

Once you have determined the price range and figure out the make and model of the car you would like, the dealership will have a variety of add-ons that you can purchase.

Six Car Add-ons you can purchase when buying a new car:

Extended Warranty

Dealerships often offer an extended warranty for a fee. This warranty is in addition to any manufacturer or limited warranty that is on the car. It is important to know what is covered and what is not. Also, know how many miles it covers and how long.

Extra Insurance

Dealerships will often offer an additional type of insurance on your vehicle. It could be life insurance or disability insurance. These are in addition the insurance you purchase through an insurance company.

Prepaid Maintenance Plan

With a prepaid maintenance plan, you are paying service to your new car in advance. You will have to go to the dealership to have the work done, but it can be nice to not have to worry about the bill when you need it done.

Cosmetic Extras

These are things like splash guards, running boards, window tint, and chrome rims. Buying this now will save you from dealing with it later.

Rust and Paint Protections

When you get this protection, the car is treated with an extra layer of protection that is designed to prevent the paint from chipping or peeling. It also helps to prevent body damage due to rust.

Upholstery Protection

If you want to make sure the inside of the car stays looking nice, you might want to think about upholstery protection. The upholstery is sprayed to make it stain resistant and to help prevent fading. It helps it to look new for a longer amount of time.

While these are often extra charges, it is something that you might want to consider while buying your new car.
