Preparing for back to school requires getting your kids mentally ready and also physically prepared with the right supplies, clothing, and more. Sometimes this can be expensive, especially if you need to buy school supplies for several children, but there are a few ways you can save money on back to school.

Back to school can be expensive. Here are 4 simple ways to save on Back to School Supplies

Let’s look at some tips to save money on back to school:

  1. First thing is first, check to see what you already have. Check closets, rooms, and other areas and you might be surprised to find you already have a lot of supplies you need for school. After you’ve found out what you already have, make a list of everything you still need so you know exactly what you will be shopping for.
  2. Time when you’re shopping will be. As you may already know, the big rushes in which buying school supplies occurs is in August and January, this is because many college students go back to school after the holiday season as well. Avoiding these peak times and buying right after the fact when supplies often go on sale for 50%-70% off normal prices will allow you to save a lot of money.
  3. Set a budget. Knowing how much you can spend before you put yourself in the situation of buying can help you from overspending. Sometimes this means having to say no to a particular item your child may really want, but doing this will be much easier if you have a budget plan in place beforehand.
  4. Try other stores than major stores or see if you can find good deals at garage sales. Often times a shirt that’ll cost you $12 brand new can only cost you $4 used, take advantage of this and you’ll find you can save a lot.

Back to school shopping doesn’t have to leave as much of a dent in your wallet as it sometimes can. With these pointers you should be able to save lots on this next school year.
