My Facebook stream has been full of people talking about their kids heading back to school. We have about 2 more weeks here, but we have been gearing up for it. Actually, everyone, including the kids, have been doing their “happy that school is starting” dance. I am lucky that my kids still love going back to school.
With school starting that means it is time to thinking of back to school lunch ideas. Kids love to find fun lunches, parents want something the kids will actually eat, so there needs to be something that spruce things up.
I will admit it. I am not that mom. I do not have time, or patience to go through too much to make the food fun. I don’t mind simple things. And while I love Pinterest, I am just not spending the amount of time needed to make some of those lunch ideas. So here is my super simple, back to school lunch idea, that takes a small amount of effort and the kids think is so cool.
This sandwich is easy. Make any kind of sandwich your child likes. Tuna is a fun choice with this because of it being shaped like a fish.
Once the sandwich is made, you will need to cut a circle. I used a small mason jar, but you can use a cookie cutter or small cup. Make the circle to the far side corner.
Next you will want to make a heart that is missing its point. I use a cookie cutter. You can free hand the heart as well. Make sure the pointy end hangs off the bread.
Then assemble the fish. Place the pieces need to each other. I like to use a small piece of carrot for the eye and mouth, but cheese works too.
