It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go. That couldn’t be more true. Christmas is in full swing. It is beautiful. We have been trying to get out and see as much as possible. I am always looking to fill our fun family time with special Christmas events that the whole family will love. This year, I have been focusing a lot on things we can see when we travel. Maryland has such beautiful events this time of year. Len Stoler Hyundai, in Owenings Mills, wanted me to share with you some great events you take your family to.
On December 4th, visit the Monument Lighting Family Festival to celebrate the annual Washington Monument lighting. This free even will begin at 7pm with music, refreshments, holiday films, and kids activities. After the main event, the night will end with fireworks.
On December 5th, the National Aquarium will be holding its Holiday Celebration. See the National Aquarium’s Knott Harbor View Room will be turned into a holiday village. Come out to enjoy music, snacks and hot chocolate as the kids enjoy crafts.
On December 6th and 7th, See Santa’s Streetcar. The family event will include a ride with Santa in a classic streetcar. Come for the storytelling, music and large decorate tree. Also enjoy some holiday snacks.
Each Sunday until Christmas, December 6, 14, and 20th, have Breakfast with Santa at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This will be a buffet style breakfast and then crafts will be created at the new penguin exhibit. Breakfast is from 8:30- to 10am.
On December 7th, enjoy the 41st Annual Mayor’s Christmas Parade. Starting at the Poly/Western High School, the parade will head down along the 2.5 mile route. The parade will be full of marching units and bands, floats, and more.
On December 12th, the Sweater Set’s Holiday Sweater Party with a multi-instructional duo hosts a live event with Jonathan Burns, a comedian, and Evan Young, a unicyclist, and of course, an ugly sweater contest. The activities start at 8pm.
The Walters Art Museum will host the Folger Consort’s A Renaissance Christmas on December 14th. The Christmas concert on the Sculpture Court featuring music from Flander and Italy around the 1500s.
On December 20th, see It’s a Wonderful Life. The free screening will be held at the Senator Theatre.
Finish up the holiday season fun with a Snowflake Tour of Charles Village Homes, at the Village Learning Place. Explore the variety of festively decorated home on December 21st.
