When people think of Florida, a few things come to mind: Disney, Spring Break and alligators. Christmas is rarely one of the top things that come to mind, maybe because the weather is so hot, it doesn’t inspired dreams of a white Christmas. Well, unless you are thinking about white beaches.
But Florida has some great festival and events to help get in the Christmas mood. Beck Chrysler Dodge Jeep thinks you should know what they are.
With more than 5 million lights along a 2 mile trail, the Suwannee Lights in Live Oak is something to see. See the lights between December 2nd and December 24th.
More than 3 million lights, along with outdoor movies, crafters and model trains can be seen at the Stephen Foster Festival of Lights in White Springs. There is even a snow machine to bring that white Christmas feel to the events. Visit from December 2nd to December 24th.
On December 2nd and December 3rd, come see the Heritage Days in Floral City. Taking place in the town center and the Historic district, see demonstrations from local artisans and take a wagon ride.
Think you can’t have snow and ice skating in Florida? Come out to Snowfest in St. Petersburg on December 3rd. There will be arts and crafts, a petting zoo, and a Santa Parade. What Snowfest would be complete without ice skating.
December 9th brings Hometown Christmas to Fruitland park. There will be children performances, bounce houses, food and of course, Santa will make an appearance.
Winterfest is coming to Davenport on December 10th with cookie decorating, Festival of Trees, classic cars and lots of vendors. Santa will make an appearance with the electric night time parade.
Looking for something different and wacky on December 10th. Come out to Havana for the Holiday Festival and Lawn Mower parade. The holiday event will feature an antique car show, food vendors and arts and crafts. There will even be snow!
More fun for December 10th? Craft-a-Paloosa in Lake Alfred will have arts and crafts, raffles and Santa Claus.
Come by the Sarasota Square Mall on December 11th to December 13th to see more than 150 gingerbread houses as part of the 7th Annual Gingerbread Festival. Houses are made by youth groups and businesses.
